Heading to Amarillo Today!

Getting out of this tiny town for one day is ALWAYS a treat!  We're gonna take my laptop to Best Buy to get looked at AGAIN. 
Because apparently fixing things half assed is the way to do things there.

But we're going shopping too!

Cannon Appreciation Day?

Just got back not too long ago from the festivities on base...
Something the town puts on every year to show their support for the base and the economical value we have here.  This town would be absolutely NOTHING without the support of the base...they would have less business and it would be ruled even more by the devious dairy farmers and the gangs.

So how do they thank us?  Well, they have a raffle!  Sounds fun, right?  What kind of prizes did they offer?

 A couple of these. ($20 at Walmart)

Some cheap looking plastic/wicker patio sets.
A few "nice" hoses.
Some tool sets.
A cooler.
Outdoor chairs.
A couple park benches.
A couple microwaves.
A cheap charcoal grill.
Some childrens' bikes.

And the one nice thing was a TV.

Is that really all you got, Clovis?  For all the business that the base gives you, this is all you donate?  I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but if you're going to put on an appreciation day, you might want to look like you appreciate us.
The military are in the community every day spending money and volunteering time and services to make this town less shitty.  I've seen them on the sides of the highways picking up trash that the disgusting people who live here by choice throw out.

And THAT stuff is how you say thanks?

Getting ready for company and moving

Today, Ben and I dropped off my passport info on base.  They said it'd take 7-8 weeks to return it, which will mean I will get it riiiiiiiight as we are supposed to leave.  If it doesn't come back in time, I will have to come to Japan after him...it would be a hassle, but then we'd be able to get all 3 pets out at once.  (Which would be lovely.)

It was kind of a frustrating day, but despite all I tried to do, it didn't help.  I think I'll just throw my nervousness/frustration into getting the garage sale stuff boxed up.

I finally deleted a friend on a social networking site.  We were never super close, but she seemed to think so...the things she would say and the posts she would make were so obviously pretentious and were put up to make others feel as if she were something important.  It wasn't who she truly was, she was following the hype of certain things, and I just hate it when people can't be themselves.  If you want to be truly happy, then you have to love yourself.

"Musicians"

If you were a musician before autotune and machines could make your voice sound good, you actually had to have talent...I don't like it that I have to wonder if these people are actually talented or if they're just hand picked by the big wig executives for their looks. 

I think that if you're going to be in the music industry, you should have some musical talent. 
It's not supposed to be a fashion show (predominately).  It's supposed to be about the music, about the words and the way the music flows...it's supposed to make you feel something (other than how well you could grind on someone in a club to it).  I don't care about the musician's makeup, hair, or clothing.  I don't want it to be about all that.  That's not what moves me and makes me feel a connection.

People are lazy.  People are distracted by vanity and appearances and they don't let themselves experience music anymore.  I'm sick of no musical talent hacks who have somehow made it big in the music industry without having real vocal or instrumental talents.
